Is this overly reductive? My understanding is that ARPAnet started as what most would call a “closed” platform, and it later became the underpinnings of modern internet.

Hasn’t Meta been doing fantastic things for the open source community lately via their FAIR division? e.g. Llama All other big AI players in the space seem biased towards proprietary control under the guise of safety. Why signal anti-Meta sentiment at this particular juncture?

Maybe. But I’m not sure I agree with the idea that censorship is the root cause of the “mess”. I think it’s more likely an ugly symptom of ill-conceived attempts to try and mitigate hyper-polarization that arises from recommender systems blithely applied to large networks. I feel like portability inherent to fediverse may be enough to at least somewhat challenge that paradigm?

True true. Was doing exchange arbitrage, though. So needed to have the coins on exchange for at least one leg of the transactions. The coins got stuck once they hit gox.

I mean… for them to have gotten those roles at black rock indicate that they are pretty well qualified from a purely meritocratic standpoint, no?
